What axle load limits does Hansatic use?

Hansatic applies legal axle load limits for each market automatically. For EU standard trailers: kingpin (fifth wheel) load up to 12,000 kg and rear bogie up to 21,000 kg. North American limits differ by state and axle configuration. You can also see total gross vehicle weight (GVW) against the 44-tonne EU limit.

Can I use this for a flatbed or reefer, not just a curtainsider?

Yes. The axle load calculator works for all 16 semi-trailer types supported by Hansatic — curtainsiders, flatbeds, reefers, mega trailers, swap bodies, and market-specific variants. Internal dimensions and payload limits differ by trailer; axle load physics are the same.

What happens if my axle load is over the legal limit?

When kingpin or rear bogie load exceeds the legal limit, the bar turns red and a warning badge appears immediately. You can then reposition cargo — moving heavy items toward the center of the trailer typically reduces bogie load. The calculator updates in real time so you can find a compliant arrangement before loading begins.
