LDM minimization is for shippers who bought a fixed LDM allocation and need their cargo to fit within it. LDM maximization is for freight forwarders and carriers who own the trailer space and want to fill as much of it as possible with consolidated freight. The optimization direction is opposite: one minimizes floor footprint, the other maximizes it.
