If your cargo physically can't fit within your purchased LDM allocation — even with optimal stacking and rotation — Hansatic shows you the actual LDM required. You can then decide whether to remove lower-priority items, purchase additional LDM, or split the shipment. Knowing this before the truck arrives at your warehouse avoids emergency rescheduling and carrier surcharges.

How does stacking reduce LDM?

LDM is a floor space measure, not a volume measure. When items are stacked on top of each other, they share the same floor footprint — the LDM stays the same regardless of how many layers you stack. Maximizing stack height is the most effective way to reduce LDM. Hansatic enforces stackability flags so fragile items aren't placed at the bottom of a stack, and checks that stack height stays within the trailer's internal clearance.

Can I use this to verify a broker's LDM estimate?

Yes. Brokers sometimes estimate LDM loosely. If your broker quoted you 6 LDM but Hansatic calculates 4.5 LDM with proper stacking, you have a concrete figure to renegotiate with. The calculation is based on actual item dimensions and real stacking rules — not a rough estimate.
