What is LCL load planning?

LCL (Less than Container Load) means your shipment doesn't fill an entire container, so it's consolidated with other shippers' freight. LCL load planning is the process of calculating how much space your cargo occupies (CBM), verifying it fits within the co-load container, and generating a stuffing plan for the origin warehouse. Good LCL planning prevents cargo damage, unexpected weight surcharges, and re-packing delays.

How does Hansatic calculate CBM for LCL freight?

CBM is calculated automatically from each item's length × width × height in centimeters, converted to cubic meters, and summed across all items. The chargeable weight is shown alongside — whichever is greater between actual weight and volumetric weight at the carrier's CBM/ton ratio. Both numbers update live as you add or edit items, so you have quote-ready figures before you've left the screen.

Can I plan a mixed LCL and FCL shipment?
