What shipping documents can I scan?

The scanner works on any printed or digital shipping document, including Bills of Lading (ocean and house), sea waybills, packing lists, commercial invoices, certificates of origin, delivery orders, and arrival notices. The tool extracts all readable text and attempts to identify key fields like B/L numbers, container numbers, ports, and weights.

Is my document uploaded to any server?

No. All OCR processing happens entirely in your browser using the Tesseract.js library. Your document image never leaves your device and is never sent to any server. The tool works offline once the page has loaded.

How accurate is the OCR?

Accuracy depends on image quality. Clean, high-resolution scans or photos taken in good lighting produce near-perfect results. Blurry, low-contrast, or heavily watermarked documents may produce partial results. For best accuracy: photograph documents flat, in daylight or bright office lighting, with the full document filling the frame.

Can I scan PDF files?

The scanner accepts image files (JPG, PNG, WEBP). For PDF documents, take a screenshot of the relevant page or use your PDF viewer's export-as-image function, then upload that image. This approach gives you control over which page to scan and avoids large file sizes.

What fields does the scanner detect automatically?

The scanner uses pattern matching on the extracted text to identify: B/L numbers, container numbers (format XXXX1234567), vessel names, ports of loading and discharge, shipper and consignee names, gross weights, and volumes. Not all fields will be present in every document.

Can I use this for customs or legal purposes?

The extracted text is a reading of the document image and is provided for convenience only. Always verify extracted data against the original document. Do not rely solely on OCR output for customs declarations, legal submissions, or financial transactions.
