AAP in practice: aircraft, contour and loading
Compatible aircraft
The AAP (LD9) is an enclosed pallet used in the lower hold of wide-body aircraft, and in some cases on the main deck of freighters.
Typical use
The AAP carries large consolidated shipments that need to stay enclosed, such as palletised goods and bulky cartons. It is built on a P1P pallet base with a rectangular shell above it.
Contour
The AAP is a rectangular box on a 3,175 × 2,235 mm base, with the same width at the top. Because it has no angled sides, it needs the full hold width and is not used in narrow lower holds.
Loading limits
Maximum gross weight is 4,624 kg in the lower hold and up to 6,000 kg on the main deck, including the container. With a tare of roughly 215 to 270 kg, plan payload around 4,350 kg in the lower hold.
