Air Waybill Generator — FAQ
What is the difference between an MAWB and a HAWB?
The Master Air Waybill (MAWB) is issued by the airline between the airline and the freight forwarder. The House Air Waybill (HAWB) is issued by the freight forwarder (NVOCC/IATA agent) to the shipper. This generator creates a HAWB for use in freight forwarding operations.
How is chargeable weight calculated for air freight?
Chargeable weight is the greater of the actual gross weight and the volumetric (dimensional) weight. Volumetric weight = (Length cm × Width cm × Height cm) / 6000. The higher figure is charged. This calculator computes it automatically per line item.
Is this Air Waybill legally valid?
This generator creates a document in the standard AWB format. For commercial air freight, the AWB is typically issued by an IATA-licensed agent and the airline. Use this as a draft or internal document and confirm requirements with your airline or freight forwarder.
What is the IATA volumetric factor for air freight?
The standard IATA volumetric factor is 6000 cm³/kg (or 166 in³/lb in imperial). Some airlines and routes use 5000 or other factors — always confirm with your carrier.
What goes in the Handling Information field?
Handling instructions include special care requirements such as fragile, keep upright, keep dry, temperature-sensitive, or dangerous goods reference numbers. This information is printed on the AWB for ground handling agents.
Can I save my company information?
Yes — check the 'Remember my company info' box and your shipper details (including logo) will be saved in your browser's local storage. The data never leaves your device.
